Download latest

(google traduction) Hello, I am working with the version seamly 2D v.0.6.0.1 and I am very satisfied with it. But I would like to do a software update to benefit from the improvements, without losing all the work done over the years. Can two versions be installed in parallel on Windows 11 (for comparison), can we reinstall the old version in case of a problem? I am too afraid of losing everything (I made backups). How should I proceed without risk please?

Hello and nice to hear from you, @Perla

Yes, you can. After downloading the latest version, you can rename the folder of the existing one - perhaps add v-0-6-0-1 to the end of the folder name. You’ll find the existing folder at C:\Program Files (x86).

Then you can install the new version to C:\Program Files (x86)\Seamly2D when asked for a path.

All of the icons will automatically point to the new version but your pattern files should open just fine. If your current file extensions are .val, .vst, & .vit, you’ll need to save each pattern as (File > Save as) and keep the current name of file, just to change the extensions to .sm2d, .smms & .smis.

To open the old version of Seamly, you will need to navigate to the renamed folder, open the folder & double-click on the Seamly2d.exe or the SeamlyME.exe files.

If you have any problems, please let us know and we’ll try to help you.

Thank you very much, I understood everything you explained to me so I will try to do it. I have the .val files which correspond to the created pattern models, I have .vit files which correspond to the recorded measurements, but I do not have .vst files?? Which files does this extension correspond to? please

I just install a new version in a folder with the build date… that way I can just run that version when I need to go back and compare to the newest version.

To clear space on the laptop SSD, I moved all the releases from 2020-2022 to my working external hardrive:

Not to mention I have every a copy of every feature branch build:

On my desktop I keep a shortcut to the latest version I installed as well as a version after the fork, but before I added anything… that way I can quickly tell if a bug / feature is something that has always existed or some bug I might have created.

.vst files are multisize files.

Simply loading the file into Seamly2D or SeamlyMe and Saving As will change to the new corresponding extension. Saving as *.val, *.vit, or *.vst is not an option anymore.

It’s the old Valentina multisize extension. It’s now the Seamly multisize - *.smms.

OK, I don’t do multi-sizes, only custom creations.

Thank you so much, Grace and Douglas, for your responsiveness; it’s incredible and very professional! I’m going to try this update this weekend with my husband, who’s much more computer-savvy than I am (but HE doesn’t do pattern-making ).

Speaking of latest download… I’ve been redesigning the update process. The Check for Updates will move out of the About dialog and to a Help->Check for Updates… item OR the app will auto check when starting the app. A new “Update Seamly” dialog will pop up giving different options.

And yes - to those who might have noticed… I changed the “Seamly” font to Sofia Pro Soft which will also appear in the About and Welcome dialogs as well.

Thank you very much, I managed to install both versions this weekend, and I converted my patterns and sizes, and I didn’t lose anything. Thank you both for your involvement.

We have migrated to building with Qt6 which unfortunately no longer supports Win32. The move was neccessary as Qt5 is no longer supported, and given there’s only a handful of us - trying to maintain both a Qt5 and Qt6 version with the same code base would be rather time consuming.

The last 32bit Windows version should be the August 8, 2025 release:
