I have seen a few things that if they worked a bit differently they would make some stuff a little quicker to do. I’ll post suggestions as I see/remember them
Rename one of the “detail” sections. I found it very confusing that the detail under “draw” and detail across the top were not the same thing.
When going into the function window it would be nice if the window opened large enough that you can actually read the options you can choose from and/or have it save the size when you manually resize it so you don’t have to resize it every time you go into it.
Also in the function window have it auto highlight what is in the box so that when you hit the little hand to move an option over or double click the option it overwrites what was there rather than having to manually delete it.
Have a global variable that saves the measurement type you want to use. So you could set in preferences that you want it always in cm or inches etc and every new project you starts starts with that automatically.
Zoom to fit best could have 2 options, 1 to zoom to show everything and one that just zooms in on the current pattern piece.
We could change the Detail group bar title to Workpieces, what do other people think about this?
We could set the formula field to ALWAYS be this size:
Adding to a formula using the hand icon might be better than forced overwriting. Some formulas are complex, and overwriting them by default could create problems. Maybe there are other possibilities. We’ll keep thinking about this.
We have the default unit already:
This issue has been created about zoom best fit and zoom current pattern piece:
The bug @slpencer mentioned is not related to this request. We already have zoom in on pattern piece when you switch pattern piece. But, probably, have it for the current also good idea.
Which function window?[quote=“ladysinaz, post:1, topic:1350”]

As @slpencer said it will make more problems that solves issues.
You did not mentioned what language do you use. Also i don’t get where else you don’t like the name. And which names you see?
The field will be expend automatically if it more than 80 characters.
The issue request dialog contains some discussion on ‘Zoom Best Fit’ for the current pattern, and it’s mentioned at the end of the bug. I didn’t know if you wanted a new issue for this. It’s good feature request that has been discussed previously.
Yes it currently expands automatically if the formula is more than 80 characters. But it would be better if default behavior showed at least two lines for the formula. There is need for improvement here.
Maybe I need some better phrases in the User Manual to describe the Details group and the Layout group.
@ladysinaz, do these descriptions help with understanding the relationships between:
Detail mode, Detail tool group, and Detail workpieces
Layout mode, Layout tool group, and Layout images
“The Detail tool group is for creating workpieces while in Draw Mode, and for adding/updating details to workpieces in Detail mode. One Detail tool is enabled in Draw Mode. All Detail tools are enabled in Detail Mode.”
“The Layout tool group is for creating and exporting Layout images in Layout mode. All Layout tools are enabled in Layout Mode.”
Of course there will be more in the User Manual, but as a general description of the relationship and terminology, is this helpful?
This bug is not related to this request. @ladysinaz asks separate option to zoom fit best the current pattern piece without need to switch to another and then back again.
Apparently there are two zoom best fit issues:
Best fit to include all pattern pieces
Best fit for current pattern piece
What you see as a bug is not a bug. Looks like this is caused by my limitation for max scale factor. But i still not 100% sure.
I like the idea of having the details renamed to work pieces in draw mode as it shows a distinction. As you learn it’s not really a big deal, just confusing for new users.
When I am talking about resizing the functions screen I do not mean where you type in the formulas, I mean when you have measurements selected and you see part of the name of the measurement and part of the name of the variable name of the measurement. Because a lot of the measurements start the same the only way to tell them apart is to grab the corner of the window and drag it over so you can read all of the text contained in there. It gets annoying quite quickly when you are in and out of the creating a pattern piece. When I resize it to where I can read all of my measurements, it would be nice if the next time I opened it, it would stay that size.
When talking about having the formula field highlighted by default I meant only upon first entering into the functions screen so you can easily copy over whatever numerical value the program automatically put there as you dropped your point. If you click in the field it would un highlight everything as normal and if you entered in a function either by the hand or double clicking it would also NOT be highlighted. Only when you first enter in.
For the size preference, I actually did see that a while back and set it. However I have it set to inches and when I create a new file then new pattern piece it is defaulted to centimeters. Not a huge deal but that would defeat the purpose of the global setting if I have to manually change it when I start a new file.
Don’t want to do. Use double clicking inside of formula field to highlight all.[quote=“ladysinaz, post:12, topic:1350”]
