Seamly Loading Very long after every Click

So Every Time after i create a second draft block Seamly starts loading for like 30 seconds after every single click. Clicking again causes the Window to Show “no response” in the Top Left Corner. It never crashes it just loads after every click and makes it impossible to work on Patterns without getting totally frustrated. I work on Windows 11 and have a quite powerful Computer that has no memory or Hardware issues that could cause this. i tried to Reinstall etc and everything stays the same. installed it on different Hard drive and still no Change.

Hello and welcome, @domino

I encountered something similar a while back. Do you have any pattern pieces in that file? If so, check the order of the nodes that were selected.

Here’s the topic that I’m thinking of:

Please let me know if this helps you. If it didn’t help, please send your pattern and measurements files so that we can check what’s going on.

Hello, so i figured a workaround to the slow speed. I can save the File and everything gets super slow and unusable. But if i close the Program > reopen the project. I can Work in regular speed and keep on going until the next time i save the File. It´s still very annoying and doesn´t allow me to Save that often and Keep my Progress safe.

and Sure i can Send you my Files. where and how?

You can upload them on here using the button above:

Or you can private message me by clicking on my image or name. It will give you the option to message me, then use the same button in the private message.

Your pattern isn’t slow for me, but one of the pattern pieces has 4 curves but no separating points. I’m going to put in the points and see if it doesn’t make a difference.

I see that you do all your line as curves and then create your pattern pieces by just selecting the curves, without the points in between the curves. This will resulting in the pattern pieces constantly recalculating, looking for the start and the end of the curves, which will slow down your drafting.

I’ve done the 3 pattern pieces on the Double Knee Pants draft board, please see if the pattern has sped up a bit:

patternVer1a.sm2d (44.2 KB)

If it has, or even if it hasn’t, please add the points between the curves to the other pattern pieces, check if it’s faster and let me know, either way.

To expand on what Grace has said, Seamly is designed to work by points, not lines. The curves tools are for establishing curves. A curve is basically a long series of unlabeled points, where a curve is actually there it’s very useful, but otherwise it’s a waste of resources. A straight line should be defined as Point X to Point Y – that’s what Seamly is expecting. If you are needing the straight lines for your own ease of reading your draft, use the Line tool.

I hope that clarifies Seamly best practices for you, at least a little!
