There is a label option in Piece mode - you can add 2 labels: 1 for the pattern piece and 1 for the pattern - and there is a request on the Github for more labels (like “Lengthen/Shorten Here” and “Fold Line”, among others) that should be coming in the not too distant future.
I hope this is what you meant about the “Add Text” tool.

As @Grace pointed out there are the 2 labels that can be used to put text on pattern pieces, but they are geared towards “Pattern” or “Piece” related information. It’s on my “TO DO” list to add a Text tool to be able to add random text to pattern pieces.
