Adding new systems

Is there any way to add new systems to Seamly? I use Patternmaking for Menswear by Kim & Kim. Right now I’m using my own measurements file, but I’d like to be able to put the image references right next to the measurements so I don’t have to pull the book every time I want a reference.

Seamly is designed to be system agnostic, & thus the pictures should be pretty close to universally applicable. However, I do see the appeal to being able to have the familiar pictures from your favored system.

My recommendation is to take pictures of the images in your book & have them open alongside. This would be especially nice if you have multiple monitors.

Besides that, if you have programming chops, you could build it from the source code using your preferred pictures instead of the native ones.

There really is no “system” used in Seamly. The “known” measurements are simply a collection just about every measurement compiled from a wide array of systems. The idea is to select the from the known measurements those that your system is using, with maybe a custom measurment here or there. What I want to do create (emply) templates for the various systems so a user just needs to select a tepmlate rather than having to create a measurement file from the knowns.

Funny this pops up… As I was thinking of adding another Abbreviation / PMS name field to the measurements I was also thinking of ways a user could add images to 'custom" measurements.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what the system selector is for. I thought that changing the system would change the available measurements in the “Add Known” dialog. Is that not the case?

My primary goal in adding a new system would be to add the reference photos. I don’t really care if it’s in the system section or if it’s in a default template that I can copy/paste/edit.

In the specific case of Kim & Kim, some of the measurements, like the front interscye and back interscye do not have similar enough measurements in the known measurement section. Additionally, some of their “standard” measurements are taken from slightly different places than you would normally expect.
