Hello! Does anyone happen to have baby bodysuit patterns (for newborns)? I really need them for sewing. I’d be very grateful for any help or advice!
Hi @Natalia1, welcome to the Seamly forums!
I don’t know if anyone here has baby bodysuit patterns drafted, I certainly don’t, I dressed all my babies in gowns. But maybe someone else has, or can do so. Were you hoping for free, or to pay? If you’d like to use Seamly to draft the pattern yourself, we’d certainly be thrilled to help you get it figured out!
I can design on paper, but I have never worked on computer programs. I thought that if there are ready-made patterns, maybe I can figure it out. So far it is completely unclear even how to build a base grid
It is a bit confusing at the start. You can find tutorials on the Seamly wiki, & on YouTube, but as far as building the base grid goes, the thing to remember is that you build the grid by the (intersection) Points, not by the Lines. & that selecting the points in the clockwise direction is for tracing off the pattern piece, not for drafting the pattern.
@Grace also does training Zoom meetings for newbies sometimes.
Hi @Natalia1…
If you can design on paper and sew, you can learn Seamly. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but we glad t help you along the way.
Hello and welcome, @Natalia1
Seamly doesn’t work with a grid with markings at every inch like pattern making paper. I’d suggest that you work through this short tutorial to get an idea of how Seamly works - it should only take an hour or 2.
Once you have a feel for Seamly, it should be easy to translate your normal pattern drafting instructions into Seamly instructions and we’re always here if you get struck.
