Hello. I’m using Seamlyme and Seamly2d for the first time. I am trying to work out/ find how I determine the base size - what number or value does this refer to? Is it a body measurement? if so what body measurement does it refer to?
If I use an individual measurement type the software doesnt allow me to change the base size or base height.
Should I default to multi-size?
I am assuming that base height refers to the height of a person/size eg 5’6" for the sake of a pattern draft.
The base size refers to the size you grade up or down from when using a multisize measurement file.
This is normal behavior as the base size and height are only applicable to multisize measurements. Another way to look at it is Individual measurments are “made to size” where as multisize measurments are for graded “off the rack” sizes… based on the base size and height.
Personally, I would suggest working with some individual measurements until you have some idea how the apps work. That being said I’m sure @Grace - who’s experienced in using the multisize will jump in.
Actually the range of sizes and heights are currently only in metric, but the sizes really don’t mean anything until you define the grade rules in a multisize measurement file. Again the base height would be the height you define as the starting height to grade up and down from - but yes it would refer to a person’s height in cm in centimeters.
When using the Individual measurements in SeamlyME, only the actual measured values are entered.
When using a Multisize file in SeamlyME, the base measurement is the value on your measurements where you start measuring from. It’s normally the size that you entered when you created the measurement file. The increment value is the difference between the base size and then next or previous size.
The height value is a very small amount additional to the size measurement and is normally only used if you’re using the Russian standard measurements for making military uniforms, so I’d suggest that you ignore it completely.
