So I’m still working on understanding the directions in the HJA book and getting my measurements to work, lol. Here’s what I’ve done. You will see an A1 and A2 point at the shoulder. That is where I made a change from using the I and G points because I felt that that made the neck too big and the armhole a little weird but please let me know if I should’ve left it or not. I think that the best would be to make a test pattern & see how the neck falls in both instances. But before doing that, (you’re going to hate me) please check your neck side to shoulder tip measurement. 4 inches seems very short to me. If the shoulder length is more like 5", then the neck width will reduce to be more in line with your points A1 & A2.
The armhole will still be a little out but there’s a step missing there. It’s almost midnight again, so I’ll have a look tomorrow or Friday.
Lol, I could never hate your responses. I am the one that is slow at comprehending all of this and ask for your patience. copy of original bodice pieces.sm2d (11.4 KB) I will check the measurement but that is also the same length on my sloper I did years ago and the shirts I made with it fit great on the shoulder. The only think with it is that the bust and waist are too small now, lol. I will attach a copy of it so you can see how it looks. I managed to trace the pattern but I can’t figure out how to do anything else with it.
Ok, so what I see at a glance is… The neck front to waist measurement in your measurement file is 11" while the original draft is almost 13.25". So this measurement does need attention:
There shouldn’t be a gap between A & A11 - can you send me the images so that I can load them into the pattern so see what’s happening here, please?
Neck Side to Waist Front measurement also needs attention… The pattern measurement is 16" while your measurement file is 14.25"
I agree that the shoulder length on the pattern is 4", so this is probably correct.
Half bust arc is also 1" less than the pattern (this probably the ease):
Neck side to BP is the same.
BP to BP is the same.
I’m going to edit the measurements file to suit this pattern & see what happens on HJA.
Ok, after making the changes to those few points, you can see the improvement in the HJA pattern:
I still haven’t really looked at the armhole yet, but just drew in a curve, for now, and even it’s looking a lot better.
Which images are you needing?
The ones you loaded into the old pattern to copy. They didn’t come over with the pattern.
Ok, see if this works.

You should see the actual patterns on the left and then on the right should be what I have after tracing.
Thank you! Diane
I’m getting this message:
So I need the actual images so that I can point Seamly to them to upload into the pattern.
