Backstory: This morning, in part due to recent troubles people have had with the darts in the store pattern, I decided to bite the bullet & experiment with a notion I’ve been mulling over for several years: creating variable darts.
After briefly considering just forcing it with manual measurement adjustments whether in the variables table or the pattern itself, I decided that it would be best to follow @Grace’s example & start with a multisize measurements file. I considered starting with a brand new file, & that might be a next step, but the GOST file is all ready, desperate to find use.
After looking around at the available measurements, & reflecting that the recent trouble was with trouser darts, I decided to go with waist/hip relations.
Problem: Imagine my surprise then, when I discovered that the waist to hip measurement is significantly less than the waist to high-hip measurement!
Needless to say, although I assume the GOST file will still serve for this experiment, I will not be attempting to use it for an actual garment.
