i just tried to delete the last pattern piece thinking that might have been the problem but now it’s crashed.

Which pattern piece did you delete that caused the error?
i think the lft pkt stand but at this point probably not worth your time to investigate.

That makes sense, because the item in the error, I traced to point A42. It was after midnight, so I switched off for the night. I’m going to check now & see if I can recreate the error.
Edit: Nope, I couldn’t recreate the error.
