Error opening file .val

Hello everyone,

I am unable to open this file using either an older version (Valentina) or the very latest version of Seamly2D. It is my only file, and I don’t have a backup. May I send the file to you? Thank you for any help you can provide. Caroline

Welcome Caroline.

Yes you may. Include amy measurement file you may have used. If it’s an older val ver prior to the fork we should be able to recover most if not all the file. If it’s a val file created in Valentina after the fork it becomes iffy what parts can be saved as a Seamly file.

Thanks for the reply. I received a message stating that, as a new user, I couldn’t include a link in my post. I’m not sure how else to share my files.

Hello and welcome, @Caro33

I’ve bumped you up a level on the forum so that you may now share the files.

Once you’ve shared the files, I suggest that you check for updates and install it so that you have the latest Seamly running when you get them back.

Hello @Grace. Thank you !

Here are my .val file and my measurements file. I don’t know if it was created before or after the fork.

Thank you very much for your help.

mesures.vit (7,0 Ko) modele.val (39,0 Ko)

The problem wasn’t with opening the files in Seamly, it was with the naming of some of the points. A while back, we had to change the use of comma’s and points in the names because this interferred with the formulas. I had to go in with a text editor and manually change 2 labels names replacing the commas with an underline.

Now your pattern loads into the latest Seamly perfectly and I’ve saved them as Seamly files. Here they are back:

mesures.smis (7.0 KB)

pattern1.sm2d (39.6 KB)

Please let me know if you have any further problems.

The file opens and works perfectly. A huge thank you for your work. I’ll make sure to pay attention to the point names from now on.

Thanks again!
