Export to Assyst CAD

Hi there,

is there any chance or workaround to export patterns, we made in Seamly, to Assyst CAD?

I tried to use the export to DXF command, but it didn´t work. There where several errors when i try to import the exported DXF file into Assyst. I use the import function in Assyst also the data.conv tool from assyst.

Everytime the same errors:

Error:The following file contains no parts rock_test_layout_aad2013_flat_01.dxf!Error:The following file contains no base size rock_test_layout_aad2013_flat_01.dxf!Warning:No grading information in the file rock_test_layout_aad2013_flat_01.dxf!

If needed i can send the DXF filkes too

Can anyone help me?

It kind of hit and miss which dxf format might work with the app you’re importing into. I think I had luck with using:

Another option is to export as an SVG and use another app like Inkscape to export to DXF. Inkscape also exports:

And both of those exports loaded into QCad for me.

Hi douglas,

i tried now, but i got the same errors again…did you try it with an actual version of Assyst CAD?

I work with both tools. Seamly is better in design than Assyst CAD.

We want to make some tutorials for private users who wants also use their pattern in Assyst CAD too.

No. I don’t have Assyst.

If I had the time I’d look into the dxf export in Seamly, but I’m so busy working on some other issues and features, and I don’t want to get side tracked - which I’m so apt to do.

Just for reference could you post a dxf export from Assyst just so I can compare it to what Seamly is exporting?

I read some on the Assyst dxf format spec… it does need DXF R13 or later.
