I was into the Preferences and get this error when simply clicking on the drop down arrow of the font box. I wasn’t actually trying to do anything just checking it out.
When I clicked OK then this one popped up

are you running on windows, MAC, or linux? If Linux, which one?

I get the same and I’m on Windows 10. If I click on OK, the box closes and if I reopen it, I can scroll a bit but then the error comes up again. If I type in the 1st few characters, it finds the font and I can accept it.
Same here and Windows 10
