Groups are so you can organize nodes (objects) together and control the visibility of the objects as a group.

First you need to create a group:

Then using the context menu you can add an object to a group:

So now point A4 is contained in Group 1"

I then added A5, A6, and A7 to Group 1, and added A, A1, a2, and A3 to Group 2:

Now by clicking the “eye” button in the first column you can show / hide a group:

Group 1 is hidden:

Group 2 is hidden:

Group 1 and Group 2 are both hidden… leaving only Spl_A2_A3 visible:

While were at it - The tool buttons in the Group manager:

Black Eye - shows All groups.
Grey Eye - hides All groups.
Black Lock - locks All groups.
Grey Lock - unlocks All Groups.
Plus Sign - adds new group.
Minus Sign - delete selected group.
Pencil - edit selected group.

Also double clicking on any object in the Objects list will Zoom to that Object, making it’s Group visible.
