Can’t delete tool has children is holding me back, I think @Grace mentioned that there is somewhere with a list of all node relationships or something

No, there’s nothing like that yet. But you can see a complete list of all points/curve/lines created by got to Menu > History > History or Ctrl H and search for that object by its label name.
You won’t find anything that was used in a length or angle formula - that is something that may still be coming in the software.
Also check that the object hasn’t been used in a pattern piece or internal path.
And not likely to ever be… as I pointed out in another recent topic.
