Hello!
I’m a dude who never really learned sewing or fashion related stuff (as per the norm in the US), but I recently started thrifting really nice clothes that were too big, and doing very basic resizing so they fit me! I have fallen in love with the experience of sewing and would really love to make my own clothes, so I found this app to help me with drafting!
I’m still pretty new to the art, but I read a bunch of fashion textbooks in the last two weeks and I feel like my eyes and ears for understanding fashion is exponentially better than it was 2 weeks ago. If there’s more experienced seamstresses out there, I would love to connect, if you’d be willing to share some wisdom for a newbie! I have lots of questions still.
I work in IT, so I don’t think I’ll have any software trouble, but the concepts are where I still lack.
Wow! That is so very nice! I’m really glad that you found Seamlly and I hope that you share some of your journey into pattern making and sewing. We’re here to help, so please don’t hesitate if you have any questions.
A lot of us learnt how to use Seamly drafting a basic panty pattern which has now been incorporated into our Wiki. This is a short pattern that will take you through the basic process to creating a pattern in Seamly from start to finish and will only take an hour or so.
Links to the Website, Wiki, etc. are at the top of the forum screen and top right is a very handy search that will find almost anything that you are looking for.
Most important is to have fun, and someone will reply to any questions, either on pattern making or on sewing your patterns together.
