Just to introduce myself

Hi everyone,

I’m 63 years old and a music teacher. I have made my own clothes since I was at high school. I normally used Burda patterns then, and I knew exactly where to change the pattern so that it would fit me. However, in the past decade or so, I cannot get them to fit me anymore.

In the past I’ve done some pattern drawing by hand, using the book of Winnifred Aldrich. This took a lot of time, and you still need to go through the phase of fitting what you have drawn and redraw the first draft, so that you will end up with a good basic pattern. Not to mention that I wanted to develop other designs based on the basic pattern. So after a while I abandoned the idea of drawing my own patterns altogether, because I simply lacked the time to do it. After all, I also want to have time for sewing.

With Seamly, however, the idea of drawing my own patterns has become appealing again. I like that I can have a digital basic pattern, which can be changed easily after the first fitting. And that based on that I can develop other designs.

What I also like about Seamly is that it is also available for Mac-computers. I just read that Valentina is no longer available for Mac. I sincerely hope that you will not make this same decision.

I have not yet started to draw a pattern. I usually learn something new by looking at some tutorials on YouTube first, which is what I’m doing now. In the future I hope to contribute my own tutorials for pattern drawing with Seamly.

Welcome Tanja.

We currently have no plans to not support Mac OS. Just keep in mind that basically since only one of the dev team has Mac access, it can take longer for us to work through any Mac specfic bugs or issues.

We look forward to that, and please feel free to ask if you have any questions - we’re always glad to help. :slightly_smiling_face:
