Hello!
Currently I am working on a stays/corset pattern from Mandy Barrington “Stays and Corsets Volume 2”.
For that I have to create a curve between two points A and B. But then the curve is supposed to continue 2 cm further point B. I know how to lengthen a straight line reaching over a point (I use point on line tool), but not how to continue a curve.
This is the exact instruction from the book:
" 2 through 41 and 40 to 38 connect with a deep concave curve. Extend line 2cm beyond point 38 to find point 42"
Hello and welcome to the Seamly forum, @nebula1229
Reading the instruction, I’d create the concave curve as described and then, using the point at line & angle tool, I’d extend the line from point 38 at a distance of 2cm and for the angle, I’d use the angle of the control handle at point 38 plus or minus 180°.
More specifically the angle of the curve’s start / end point ± 180.
Note that given only extending 2cm that this will work fine as long as the control point length is long enough so there is a smooth extension without kinking.
