Measurements value showing incorrectly in draft

Hi Wonderful on this space,

I’m currently working on a pattern using Seamly2D, and I’ve encountered a problem I can’t figure out.

When I load my measurement file (created with SeamlyMe), the values don’t display correctly within the draft. For example, I entered 34cm as the back width in the measurement file, but when I try to use it in my pattern (e.g. drawing a horizontal line using that back width measurement), it shows as 105cm instead.

This issue only happens with this particular measurement file and draft block. If I load a different measurement file into the same pattern, the values appear correctly. Also, when I open the measurement file in SeamlyMe, the numbers look accurate.

I’ve checked my units, and everything seems to be set to centimeters. I’m not sure what could be causing this and would appreciate any help or guidance. Is it possible the measurement file is corrupted or that there’s a mismatch with how formulas are referencing the data?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Latifah_Omolola

I see that your measurement file is in inches while your pattern file is in centimeters. So the program is multiplying the measurements by 2.54???

If you send me your measurements file, I’ll try to convert it to cm for you.

I agree with @Grace, it looks like you accidentally made it an Inch file instead of a cm file. If this is the only problem, it should be simple to fix on the XML backend of the file.

Good thing we only have to worry about inches and centimeters, and not cubits or lignes.

Although it curious how we still measure buttons in lignes.

Hey! I have fond memories of a childhood experimenting with weird measurements in Desk Draw on Dad’s Mac. I think it would be exciting to draft items in cubits, & I’m sure someone out there would like to make a model Holy Tabernacle using (probably) original units!

Though, come to think of it, there’s no reason I can’t imagine my Inches are eighteenths of a base unit rather than twelfths…

I definitely need to research lignes now…

Beside the fact it’s an old French measurement… all I basically know is that the 2 standard size buttons are 24 & 36 ligne. In fact on the Reese (keyhole) buttonhole machines like the one we had, they actually have a v mark on the length adjustment for 24 & 36 ligne buttons. We used to order buttons from Waterbury by the gross… and it was usually 24 & 36 ligne. 36 ligne is about 3/4 inch.
