Multisize Table With Variable "In Sizes"

Hello, everyone!

First of all, let me tell you that I have discovered this software and Valentina back in February, but only began using it this past week. I am doing a Pattern Drafting course and we use a multi-size table. I found it interesting that, even though Seamly2D doesn’t have support for grading, it does allow to export multiple sizes that we can then grade in another software such as Illustrator or Inkscape as I have learned from a discussion here in the forum.

Now, with regards to multi-size tables I find that Seamly2D is a little limited when compared to Valentina. That is, there are instances in a multi-size table where the steps (In Sizes in Seamly2D) from one size to another are variable. I have, for instance, a table where the bust changes 1cm from size 34 to 36 (European size system), and a constant value of 2cm from size 36 to 38 up to size 56. Is there any way to achieve this in Seamly 2D? Valentina has a correction field that allows this type of tables, so I was wondering if there is such thing in Seamly2D, given that they both come from the same source.

This type of functionality is quite useful when working with a children’s table, where the steps are variable and not constant as in an adult table.

I look forward to hearing from you with some advice on how to achieve this in Seamly2D without having to create a file for the sizes that do not follow a constant step increment.

Best Regards,

Fidel H Viegas

Hello and welcome to the Seamly2D forum, @fidelhviegas

Currently, SeamlyME doesn’t support this, although you can create 2 separate measurement files for the different sections which may be easily uploaded into the pattern, as needed.

It is in the pipline as you will see from this discussion.

Yes, you can export the pattern in each size and nest them in Illustrator or Inkscape.

Thanks, Grace!

I will create separate tables for the sizes that are variable, but it is kind of a pain in the neck for a children’s table where we have to create a file for each size, as none are equal.

But thanks for your guidance!

Fidel.

You’re welcome.

There is a way around this which is pretty complex to set up and will involve manually changing the size rather than just selecting a size from a dropdown menu.

Let me know if you’re interested

Hi, Grace!

Yes, I am. Thanks!

Not at the momment, but I’m starting to wrap my head around how we can implement a better way to set up grading rules, and have that work with producing a nested layout without having to export each size one at a time.

Hi, Douglas!

Thanks for your response! The grading part would be a great addition to the software.

Look forward to the updates in the near future.
