My partner and I are designers and have been creating outfits and costumes for years.
This evening we took it upon ourselves to download Seamly2d - oh my word what a shock we were in for when opening that program up and seeing how advanced it was.
We have only ever used a tablet for drawing and paper patterns for making garments, but we really would love to use this amazing looking software .
Videos on YouTube are limited, and I heard there’s no real proper manual either, so where do we turn?
willkommen bei dieser wirklich ausgezeichneten Software. Ich benutze sie seid Jahren und habe einen kleinen Laden mit Maßanfertigung und eigenen Kleinserien.
Es hat eine Weile gedauert, sich mit der Software vertraut zu machen, weil man im Gegensatz zu Papierschnitten so ganz anders denken muss. Aber der Weg lohnt sich.
Ich habe von Anfang an mit dem Mehrgrößen gearbeitet, damit ich auch die Kleinserien mit den unterschiedlichen Größen arbeiten kann.
Ich habe gerade mal in Wiki geschaut - dort ist zwar kein Handbuch hinterlegt, aber die einzelnen Tools werden erklärt. Den Link findest du in der Leiste oben:

I don’t think that your shock was any greater than mine when, as a home sewer altering commercial patterns, I downloaded Seamly2D in 2017 and discovered that I needed to learn pattern drafting to use the software.
As @Scholli has said, I’d suggest that you visit the Wiki and this section particularly, there is a complete explanation of all the tools and I’d also suggest that you do the short exercise in Item 11 which will take you through a quick, small panty pattern so that you can have a knowledge of the whole process of creating a complete, printable pattern in Seamly2D.
Since you already know pattern making, the main shift is to use the tools (and formulas) offered in the software to replace the rulers and compasses used when drafting by hand.
There’s a lot of help on the forum, so please do use the search to find something specific, or just browse around.
Someone normally visits the forum from time to time, so please don;t hesitate to ask if you get stuck.
