I noticed in the latest version 2025.1.27.201 the exported DXF file always include the seam allowance whether I hide them or not in piece mode. Is this intentional or a bug? I’m importing it into Clo3D where the seam allowances are not needed.
A workaround I found is to check the built-in seam allowance option, but I need to do it for every piece. But it nice that when the built-in option is checked, the notches are always included. Previously whenever I want the notches, I need to export with seam allowances because the notches disappear without seam allowance. I hope I know this option sooner.
Hi @Robin, thanks for keeping us informed.
I exported pattern pieces with no seam allowance to DXF R10, viewed it in edrawings, free from Dassault Systems/SolidWorks. The lines are faint.
Maybe it is more of Clo3D problem. Below is my finding:
(Below) R10 flat in Clo3D. 1 cm seam allowance. Exported while the seam allowance was hidden. As intended, the seam allowance was not shown but I manually measured it, actually the seam allowance was included but not indicated with lines. Very heavy with a lot of points along curves. The program became very laggy even with my Ryzen 9 CPU. The notches are not showing. I still can’t find an import setting to solve this.
(Below) Similar DXF file as above in Inkscape. The seam allowance and notches were visible. Smooth curves without any points. I could move the pattern around easily and inscape ran smoothly.
(Below) 2013 AAMA. 1 cm seam allowance. Exported while the seam allowance was hidden. Seam allowance and notches visible. Minimal points along curves. Program ran smoothly. Similar finding in Inscape.
(Below) 2013 AAMA. Built-in seam allowance. Notches visible. Minimal points along curves. Program run smoothly.
