Piece Mode: Seam Allowance tampering with Notches?

Hello,

Today, I found out that the seam allowance used in the piece mode can be set using the function box (aka using lines, curves, measurements, etc)!

An issue I noticed is that any point that uses this feature in seam allowance loses the notches I set in the cut line. The seam line notches still show, but not the cut line notches. When I check properties, the notch still exists, but it does not show on the piece.

I just wanted to share this and ask if this is an issue happening with everyone or not.

Thanks for your time!

Medha.

Hello, @medha

I’ll have to see your pattern & measurements files to see what’s happening. I have an idea that the cut line notch is floating off to somewhere else because the seam allowance seems to get narrower before the notch, so perhaps the SA width at the previous point is less than at the notch point.

I too would have to see the pattern. That being said I did a similar thing using a formula for the SA at the notch node, and also tapering the SA smaller before the notch node… no problems.

I’m more curious what the line is coming from the notch node? It’s not the point name leader.

Sorry guys!

It wasn’t working yesterday, but today it was all fixed. I don’t know what happened there, but the notches are showing now for me as well. All is well. So sorry about that. Haha

Oh, that was just a dartline starting from that point.

Thanks
