Pleating tool and slash-spread tool

I want to do all the drafting within Seamly2D but the lack of these two tools hinders me. It is still possible with the move and rotate tool, but it takes so much time, makes the draft very messy, and most importantly, fries my brain.

Most of the time I just do the initial pattern in Seamly2D, then do these operations in other softwares.

slash

It is understandable because Seamly2D parametric workflow introduces a lot of constraint. So, my bold suggestion is to introduce these two tools in piece mode, or even a new separate mode that break all the constraints.

Though this is just my selfish wish. It will be a massive undertaking for the developer, so I don’t expect it anytime soon. But I love Seamly2D so much I want it to be the best patternmaking software there is.

 Yes, that tool would be amazing. I also hate doing the pleats and multiple rotations.

This is on the Github issues list so don’t feelselfish. But yes… a slash tool in up there in difficulty.

Thanks for the supprort. We appreciate it.

Hello, nice suggestion, may I ask you what other software, do you use to complete your pattern work ?

Most people use Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator to tidy things up for selling the patterns or to make some changes.

However, I do everything in Seamly and hide all of the intermittent steps in Groups which I make invisible so that my patterns remain nice and tidy while I’m drafting.

I use either Clo3D or Style3D Studio, mainly for 3D visualization before I actually sew. Clo3D is paid subscription while Style3D Studio has free non-commercial tier.

I tried Browzwear V-stitcher in the past. Not anymore since they terminate the free indie license. This is why I hated these always online softwares, pricing and access can be changed at any time, I feel like they took our work as ransom.

My other alternative is Richpeace V8, an obscure patterning tool given away for free by Chinese clothing machinery company. Lightweight and offline.

Still, I mainly use Seamly2D. I already mastered how to perform slash-and-spread in Seamly2D now.
