Purchased bodice patterns error

I purchased bodice blocks from Seamly. When I try to load my measurements I received this caution

Can Not create intersection point D11 from point D1 to curve Arc_D5_619 with an axis angle of 0 degree.

Using origin point as a place holder until pattern is corrected.

How do I correct this caution?

I am a new user to Seamly so I am not familiar with the software yet.

Hello and welcome to the Seamly forum, @Patty_Strobak

Obviously, the arc is too short. Can you please share your measurements file with me so that I can fix it for you?

Edit: you may share your measurements with me in a private message by clicking on my profile pic & selecting Message.

Welcome Patty… Sorry about that. I’m not familar with the pattern, but I’m sure @Grace will be along at some point to help you. :slightly_smiling_face:

What it means is there is something in the measurements that is causing things to move where the line no longer intersects with the arc. And since the intersection point can’t be created the app has to use some point that is known. In this case we use the origin at 0,0. It’s kinda of like dividing by zero… if there is no point, the app crashes, and if the app crashes, you can’t load and fix the pattern without editing the xml file itself. Like I said @grace will be able to figure out what you need to do.

Thank you, @Patty_Strobak

There is an error in the measurements file, at the armscye measurements, that needs to be checked and corrected.

Greetings Help-Desk!

I just purchased the patterns and I tried to change the measurements. However, my bodice looks wacky. Any advice? The armscye looks strange. And based on my measurements, I normally need a hip curve overlap. Does Aldrich not do this? And is there somewhere in the program a list of all the equations used in said pattern with their relative points so I can understand what I want to change or where the error might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, @daisymay1234

Firstly, I’d like to ask you where you bought your pattern, please? Because it doesn’t look like mine, but it is similar. Mine does cater for the heip overlap.

Secondly, I’d like you to double check that all of your measurements are correctly entered into the SeamlyME file. Small errors will sneak in, so please double check.

For the armhole… at Points C14a & C22a, deduct 0.25 from the formula in these until your curve looks better. It’s not the correct way to repair this, but if your measurements are correct, then it may be necessary. I won’t know until I see your file with the measurements.

Please let me know how you get on. Thank you

Thanks so much for your help!

First, I bought my pattern here: Shop – Seamly Is there another option? This is the only shop that I found when I searched for seamly2D patterns. If this indeed is not your shop, do you mind including a link to your version(s)?

I will go through my measurement chart and see if I can find any lose ends, at least as is relevant to the bodice pattern. I will try to attach a pdf here.

Thanks again!

That is the correct place. It just looks a little different to mine which allows for the hip being larger than the bust.

Also, my waist darts don’t extend all the way to the hem line:

Check that this measurement is correct:

This is measured from the neck back (nape of neck) to the armhole level and is actually the Armscye Depth measurement.

I forgot to reply to this part earlier. Everything in the pattern is dependant on the SeamlyME measurement file and the Variiables Table. It’s not advisable to actually change the formulas in the pattern, but to rather adjust the ease items in the Variables Table and to make sure that the SeamlyME measurements file is 100% correct.

Other than that, you can save the pattern to a new name and rotate sections to close darts in one place and open up other darts in another place, draw in a new neckline, add closures and plackets.

When you load different measurements, the pattern should resize accordingly and if you add your design features on top of the existing pattern, they should also resize accordingly.

You can find a list of each point created, along with the formulas in the Menu > History.

…I changed the measurement and subtracted 0,5cm from armscye indent and it seems ok!

I will modify/add the hip curve overlap at a later date.

Thanks again for your help!
