I feel like I’m hogging help time today, but the surprises keep coming, and maybe they are a Mac thing. I’ve tried several times to pop my cursor into a Notes or similar field to type some text, and the attached message pops up. Nothing will make this message go away. Clicking on OK makes it briefly disappear before popping up again. I have to close the application completely and then open it again and start over. Any suggestions?

This in not a Mac thing… it use to happen on all OS versions.
Let me know what the build version you have installed… you can find this in the Help->About menu:
Also check and see what your Preferences->General->Language settings are… I’m interesting in seeing the Separator locale.
Generally this was an issue that popped up in older versions and was related to the locale & separator. Theoretically the issue was fixed… but usually setting the separator to “default” fixed the issue. With the cavaet that if your locale used the comma for decimals, switching to “default” forces the app to use the decimal point which can be disconcerting if you are used to using the comma.
Is it only happening in the Notes or in other input boxes?
Try setting the Separator to “default” and see what that does. Also I should of had you get a snapshot of the System page… I want to see what your locale is.
In the meantime I will run the Mac version on my Macbook tomorrow and see if I have any issues.
OK… since your (system) locale uses the same separators as the default you should have no issue selecting “default” in the prefs. Usually using the default separators fixes the problem. At least for locales that use the “period” for the decimal point.
Oh… BTW I should have pointed out that Seamly2D and SeamlyMe each have their own setting for the separators. 
Hi there, Douglas. I’ve selected “default” in the preferences for both Seamly2D and Seamlyme, closed and then relaunched the programs. The “default” choice wasn’t changed, so I chose it again. Then I clicked in the notes section and got the same pesky dialogue box that wouldn’t go away. Oh, and here is an image of the settings for my version of SeamlyMe.

I just tested 2D & Me on my Mac with my region set to Australia with the “system” locale checked and had no issues. I specifically checked the Notes in Me and could input text ok. I actually wish I could get it to pop up the error so I would have a better idea how to prevent the issue.
Have you tried the “default” setting yet… and when you change it Click “Apply” before exiting with “Ok”.
Hi Douglas. I tried it with the default setting chosen, and I didn’t get the error message. Perhaps that has done the trick.

Whew. Good to hear. What has me baffed with this error is it seems to pop up with users in the UK or now you in AU. Two Locales that both use English and the period for the decimal point. Other locales that use the comma such as Germany & France seem unaffected using the system locale. Although it could be other regional settings specific to a user’s machine that a creating the issue when using the “system” locale?
At any rate the issue is related to UTF where certain locales are using 2 or 3 byte codes instead of 1 byte… and this causing an issue when trying to place the cursor at the end of a string when you click in a text box. Gemini did provide me with a way I can guard against the position error, but it’s hard to implement and test if I can’t reproduce it locally on one of my machines.

Gah, this could be another Mac/Safari thing. All I see is this.

Darn, I get the same result using Chrome. No Edit pencil to be seen. Could this be a setting I need to adjust for my profile?
Hmmm… it may be a Discourse forums time limit to edit thing. Since I’m an Admin I can always edit any post so I’ve never had that issue. I checked and don’t see any specific setting for you that is related to editing a post.
I would just create a new post.

HI @Quinn, Your icon is a translation icon. I’ll research why you’re not seeing the pencil icon for post editing.
@Douglas +1 And I “unhid” the full ‘post menu’ icon list – there’s no need to hide the icons and select the ellipse button to see post actions.
