Raglan sleeve Union pieces

I am drafting a shirt with Raglan sleeves. However, after I united the front and back of the sleeve pieces, the union piece was locked and became shaded. I tried every way to delete it but it wouldn’t work. Is there a way to solve this problem? Thank you for your attention.

Hello, @Janae_Hung

I’ve excluded the seam allowance which is what is causing the problem. Now, the pattern piece is accessable again.

I had a quick look, and can only think that it’s doing this because point C8 isn’t being included the list of objects for the Union piece.

I tried to add the seam allowances, but it’s doing it again. I will try to redo the union again. Thank you so much.

I deleted the Union piece from the file you sent and started all over again and it still couldn’t include C8. I couldn’t figure out why it is doing it.

Ok, I did it. Instead of choosing the back sleeve as the first piece, I selecting the front sleeve as the first piece to be united, and it worked. Thank you.

The union tool has known issues. Especially when pieces have internal paths. It’s why we generally advise to avoid using the union tool until I can overhaul the tool. While it’s more work, we suggest performing Move’s and Rotation’s in draft mode to achieve a union effect.

Just as a note… if you are upto date with the apps, at least 1 backup will automatically be created when you load a pattern… so if you mess up with creating a Union, you should be able to recover the pattern before the Union. The backups are stored in MyBackups, and you can set the prefs to save up to 10 backups per file.
