Hola Equipo.
This is the same pattern that I checked on the other topic and I can’t open it. I think it’s also affecting the use of the Piece tool on your side and causing the curves and lines to distort the pattern.
I’d really like @Douglas to check the pattern on his Windows 11 to see if it does the same for him as it does for me, please, @Douglas
Yes… this pattern is the same as the other topic and closes as soon as it gets past posting the intersect warnings and tries to create the pattern pieces - which is happening on the piece scene that you can’t see yet. I may have to tale this pattern and try loading it into a debug build to see if I can step through and see if I can find what’s causing the app to close - rather than catching and reporting an error.
That being said - I am also runnng Windows 11 and have no issue with the window resizing when selecting the new pattern piece tool.
What I suggest is to just start a new pattern with a simple 3 point piece and see if it still causes the window resizing issue. In other words lets rule any issues because of a pattern.
Ok… you’re not crazy… I was creating a piece to answer another user, and just found out how to reproduce the issue. It seems to happen when using a language other than English. And it does seem to only happen with the Create Pattern Piece tool. ???
Now that I know how to reproduce the issue, I know what I might need to look for.
Oh how stupid of me… After trying a bunch of different languages and noticing the width of the screen would vary depending on language… I looked at the status bar:
Doh… long translations of the Piece tool’s tooltip is making the screen expand.
That’s what had me confused, as I could not see why only the Piece tool is affected. It didn’t dawn on me until I kept changing languages and noticed the different screen width with some of them. Now that I know what the issue is, it’s an easy fix. I just have to make the translations fit a given length or make the tooltip adapt to the length somehow.
Actually what I might do is have the “Press ENTER to finish piece creation” part display after the 1st object is selected. That way it will reduce the length of the initial tooltip, and any translations should fit.
And while I’m at it I better check all the operations tools in each language as those tooltips can also get quite long.
Sorry it took me so long to see what should have obvious. At least now I will know to always check with the user’s language to reproduce an error.
Just an update… the fix for this issue has been merged into the repo, but currently the weekly release will not be available until we fix a CI workflow issue with the Mac build that prevents the weekly release from being added to Github. However, the Windows & Appimage artifact builds are available for download here… scroll to bottom of page
