Seamly keeps crashing on Macbook

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone’s had the same problem I’ve been having (for a while now). It happens when I work on my Mac, (I haven’t notices that on a PC and my mac is 13 y.o.): Seamly keeps shutting down. I feel this happens when I have too many points or operations in the same file. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Without having to buy a new computer  Thank you

Hi, @Julie-E_Morinais

I haven’t seen a problem like this recently on the forum although I do know that there have been some problems with certain versions of Mac over the years.

Can you send a screenshot of the version of Mac that you’re using and the version of Seamly that you have loaded so the someone can have a look, please?

Maybe someone can send me an old Mac they don’t want… so I can have a look. :grinning:

That’s a disadvantage I have in that I don’t have a Mac to build and test with. :frowning:

Hi! thank you for answering me. Here’s a screenshot of the Mac version I have installed. I couldn’t say which version of Seamly I have though, but if it’s not the latest, it has to be the one just before that. I re-downloaded Seamly sometime around February or April on my Mac and I must’ve tried to update it last month.

Going through the problems in the past, I see that the MacOs Catalina has quite a track record, which I thought was sorted out.

Perhaps @csett86 will come by and see if he/she can’t help you.

Apple is known for breaking things. Compatability is not always in their game plan. Compatibilty is like Windows #1 concern… almost to a fault. I just watched a vid on Dave’s Garage (Dave Plummer former Microsoft enginner) where he described the history of the drive letters, and why they still exist in Windows today - even though you don’t have to use them. Main reason… Compatibiilty. A large portion of software worldwide in use would simply break if it couldn’t access C:. Apple on the other hand is not hesitant to make changes in hardware or software that may requires users to change their workflows.

It’s sad, because back in the day Apple did a better job at ensuring compatibility.

I think when Apple started to diversify across multiple hardware devices that they adopted the mentality to make an OS that worked across all devices rather than keeping existing applications working across all devices. They also didn’t seem to care about changing hardware specs with every new iteration. I went through that with the iPods, where you got a new iPod, but all the accessories, cable adaptors, charger, etc you had are now all useless because they changed the port connector. IMO Apple enviroment = overpriced.
