Hi everyone! I wonder if anyone could possibly help me please… I cannot work out what I’ve done!
In the attached pattern, I moved the points of the back bodice to join the front bodice so I could draw a smooth curve for the top (suffix: MOVE), then I’ve used the opposite formula to return it back to the original position (suffix: return), but it’s not returning to the correct position. Any idea why?!
Eeek! I opened, I saw and I really can’t figure how to return the curve to only the back section.
What I do suggest is that you do the curve for the front, placing the points where you want them along the side seam. Repeat the process on the back side seam referencing the distances from the front points and the angles in relation to the 2 side seams.
Draw in the front curves also using the angles in relation to the side seam and centre line and then repeat the curve for the back doing the same.
Once you have the curves on the front and the back, then you can move the back onto the front to see if the curves are smooth and working properly. If the back needs tweaking, then you can that on the original back until the moved back curve joins onto the front smoothly, giving the balance that you require.
You can hide the moved section in a group until you want to look at it again.
Oh thank you so much for looking, it’s so strange isn’t it! I’ve done similar moves many times before and never had a problem, I just can’t understand it! Thank you for your help and advice anyway!
I just think it’s a lot of moving backwards and forwards, creating a lot of extra points and curves that could be very confusing later. If you did the curve in 2 parts, then you’d be able to move just the back curve back into position with the related points.
