Continuing the discussion from Avoid backups files:
According to the settings, even newbies have a full day to edit their post, & you aren’t a newbie. So it should be there.
A setting was recently changed so that the post option buttons always show without needing to click a “show more” button for anything. Maybe your screen is too small, & you have a horizontal scroll-bar to reveal the rest of the buttons?

please, i feel really stupid now, I am sure I am missing something obvious, where is the edit button?
I fixed the setting so that anyone down to TL2 should be able to edit their own posts. The settings are a bit unclear, so I think someone mistook the edit own posts setting with the edit any posts setting. Where exactly it should be set needs discussed by the forum staff, but I think this is an acceptable compromise until then.

I think these are fine… 24 hours for Tl0 & TL1 users and 30 days for TL2 +. Admins there is no limit. I see no use for ‘forever’.
Personaly I don’t think I’ve edited many posts after 10 mins. If I do it’s usually after I’ve done further building or investigating I might edit and add an 'UPDATE: ’ rather than creating a whole new post. If there are replies to the original post I usually just create a new post.
@Douglas Yeah, but those are apparently actually secondary settings. I believe the pertinent one is “Edit Post Allowed Groups”, which is easily confused with the “Edit All Post Groups”. At least, I’m pretty sure I have that right

Ok. That would make sense then because I know we discussed this issue during a meeting ahile ago and I’m Sue changed some settings… apprently the wrong ones. Yeah… I find the forums settings are often a bit confusing.

So apparently there is not only time limits but how many edits you can make in a day. Not sure why we would give TL2 more edits than TL3 & TL4.
Nope, Just “Edit Post Allowed Groups”. That is weird, I get the feeling that someone edited level 2 under the impression (true or not, I don’t know) that it would apply to all higher levels as well.
I found it by searching the settings for “edit post”. I think I’ll go ahead & lower it to tL0

I don’t know, I just did a search on the “All site settings” searchbar. I wish I knew what section it was kept in. I ended up just resetting that setting to factory defaults, to be sure that I wasn’t going to break the harmony of the forum.
