Wiki: Ways to improve Layouts documentation?

Continuing the discussion from Idea: New printing option: Coloured overlapping layouts:

When I need to create a layout across a range of sizes, I place all the parts with spaces in between and use this option to export to .svg. (I turn off the labels and grainlines after the 1st one.) Then I import them all into the same Inkscape file. They all layer on top of each other perfectly and I can ungroup them and tweak their placements further.

I think this should be integrated with the UserManual:Creating Layouts - Seamly page. It does not yet have anything about using the Detailing screen for laying out. If no one objects, or beats me to it, I’ll try to get that roughed-in within a few days.

Very good idea. It’s one of the things that I discovered later and have only been using effectively recently. I’m always learning new things about this amazing software.
